Spring 2024
Registration for Spring 2024 will close at 4 pm on Monday, 2/5. Remaining lesson times are on sale for $60 until we close. These are primarily for percussion, piano and violin. Please email to ask about other instruments.
Please review the calendar at the bottom of the home page to make sure your youth musician can participate in juries (either day) and in recital camp weekend.
To make sure you correctly complete the form linked at the bottom of the page, please read the following information.
Scrollworks is offering private lessons, group instruction and ensembles for orchestral instruments (winds, strings and percussion), piano, voice, guitar and art to children ages 6 to 18, including students with disabilities.
All classes, lessons and ensembles will be in-person at St. Paul UMC on either Monday evenings (between 4 pm and 8 pm) or on Saturdays (between 9 am and 3 pm). Returning students who have been taking online lessons may continue. New students, please contact us about online lessons.
Our spring program consists of 12 classes/lessons, a mid-semester jury day, a final performance weekend which includes an all-day recital camp, a formal Solo Recital and a formal Concert for the group classes and ensembles.
Group classes, ensembles and orchestra rehearsal are 60 minutes.
Private lessons, music theory, art and the premier recorder ensemble are 30 minutes.
We serve a free lunch at noon on most teaching Saturdays for our families, staff and church members. (Please let us know if anyone in your family has dietary restrictions or if you would like to help serve or to donate food, paper goods or drinks.)
The semester calendar is on the home page.
Click here for a handy printable version to put on the fridge. (Thanks, Dane Lawley and Sara Peacock!)
Please do not register if you know your child will miss more than 2 lesson days because of events already on their calendar. (We do not count unavoidable conflicts such as illness or a death in the family.)
Orientation for new families will be Saturday, January 13 at 9 am. Here's the schedule:
9 am - Violin sizing - for students new to violin or returning students who need a larger size or minor repairs or tuning
9:30 am - Theory test for ages 8+. For new students and any returning student who did not take a theory test last semester. (No previous knowledge of music is required or expected. This is just to determine a baseline so we can measure our effectiveness.)
10:00 am - Basic info on our program. For all new students or returning students who did not attend Spring or Fall 2023.
Participation in the solo recital and/or the ensemble concert is required. Please put this on your calendar and plan to attend. (Out-of-town online students should plan on submitting a video.)
Recital Camp is our main rehearsal time for the Sunday ensemble concert. This includes all students except piano and voice soloists. Attendance is required to participate in the ensemble concert. Please put this on your calendar and plan to attend.
