Metropolitan Youth Orchestras of Central Alabama
Metropolitan Youth Orchestras of Central Alabama (MYOCA) is anon-profit organization dedicated to advancing musical talent in the youth of central Alabama. We offer opportunities tailored for the performance level and maturity of each individual, from FREE lessons (all instruments) offered through our Scrollworks program to group lessons, pre-orchestral instruction, and full youth orchestras.
Auditions will be on August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church. The purpose of the audition is to demonstrate “basic music skills ” and orchestra placement: beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Alternate audition dates and locations are available by request.

Our current teaching schedule is as follows:
WIF=Warriors International Fellowship, 3112 Ensley Five Points Ave W
HUM=Highlands United Methodist, 1045 20th St S
Mondays at WIF, 11 am to 2 pm
Thursdays at WIF, 5 pm to 8 pm
Fridays at HUM, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Saturdays at HUM, 12 pm to 4 pm
We will be closed July 3rd and 4th.
Ensembles meet from 6:30 pm to 8 pm on Mondays at Art's Music
and Tuesdays at NorthStar Youth Ministries.
MYOCA is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization which was founded to awaken and nurture a passion for music in children. Students of diverse racial, social, cultural, and economic backgrounds are encouraged to explore and cultivate their musical talent and contribute to Alabama's musical culture. Our goal is to awaken and nurture a passion for music in students of diverse racial, social cultural and economic backgrounds for the sake of social transformation.
Our progressive music education programs are staffed by accomplished musicians with real-world experience. Students receive broad exposure to classical, jazz, world music and other genre. Students can join at any level and at any time. We consistently struggle to provide financial aid so that no child is ever turned away.
